World cup fever hits the networks
Jun 2nd
The 2010 World Cup is going mobile, and the networks are all looking to take as much money from your back pocket !
I’ve looked across a few sites now and to do a few calls and texts on matchday and upload a few celebration snaps will cost anywhere between £30 and £108.
The best network seems to be Vodafone and weather your on contact or pay as you go your going to be spending less than any of your mates who are on Orange, about £78 less, so it looks like you will be the one getting the South African beers in.
With the Vodafone Passport you will certainly be quids in.
All the major networks – Vodafone, T-Mobile, O2, Orange and Three have tariffs that have roaming charges so make sure you do the maths before you set foot on the plane, no not you Theo your staying put !
Three have announced a 50% cut in roaming charges for those diehards travelling south, but they still come up short compared to Vodafone.
At almost £108 Orange are being left far behind in the race to win the man (or woman) on the terraces heart.
Everything Everywhere….everybody calm down !

The Orange / T-Mobile joint venture has already attracted the Vodafone Chief Guy Laurence to have a pop at the Everything Everywhere new brand name.
Ever the wit Mr Laurence pulled out some rather cunning word play to express his views. The JV being in his words “all over the place”.
But with plans afoot from Orange / T-Mobile to add another 100 retail outlets and incease share in the Wi-Fi hotspots then it will be the footfall on the high street to decide if they want Everything Everywhere.
How long will the two operate as different ventures though, I give it 18 months before we see the two morph into one.
