To Add The Tax Or Not To Add The Tax…
Mar 15th
…that for the Networks seems to be the question. With the 20% VAT now in place it has made the standard tariff packages on offer from the Networks look very unpretty on the eye, who wants to see monthly cost of £10.21 or £30.64 not me thats for sure. With Vodafone and Three keeping things nice and pretty how long will it be before Orange (and their now little brother T-Mobile) and O2 give in and return their tarifs to the round pound. I can’t see it being long at all !
HTC Desire S Deals A Plenty !
Mar 15th
HTC continue to be the favourite manufacturer, ousting Apple and with the likes of the Desire and the Desire HD its not a surprise to see them now offer an update of the range. The Desire S is as you would expect a faster version of the “old” Desire and has a few extra tricks up its sleeve. It packs the now familiar Android operating system and has everything you would expect from a smartphone. With great deals available from the likes of www.buymobilephones.net it certainly looks like time to update to the S !

Orange Shop And What They Have To Offer
Aug 13th
What do Orange have on offer on their shop site as we head into the weekend, well I’ve just had a surf acrossto see they have a scrolling banner with four big calls to action.
First up is their advert for the iPhone 4, of course its the same picture as you see on every other advert for the iPhone 4 and to see the “This changes everything. Again.” slogan hardly sets them apart from any of the other networks. The Buy Now button lands you into a page offering you the oppertunity to but the phone or the sim. Why they couldnt have put this as seperate Buy Now buttons on the min banner is hard to say.
Next up is a banner for the Samsung Galaxy S, or as Orange call it “The smartest Samsung in town” The Find Out More button lands you into an overview page of the phone with a secondary option to view the phones specs. You can then click through to see the see the plans Orange have on offer for the phone.
Third up is their shout on cheap home braodband for their mobile phone users, for just £6.50 a month Orange say you can recieve up to 20MB. The Find Out More button drops you into a page that allows you to compare each of the broadband packages they have on offer.
Fourth but by no means last is the banner for Orange Wednesdays, click on this and you land on a page that not only tells you about Orange Wednesdays but also the other extras Orange have to give their customers. Magic Numbers, Dolphin, Monkey, Reserve tank and Phone Fund are all promoted.
The four banners all give the casual surfer an oppertunity to explore more and browse further into the Orange Shop site.
Dell Thunder Update
Aug 13th
Best known for their laptops Dell are playing catch up in the mobile phone sector, but with news that the Dell Thunder is about to take us all by storm….(sorry I could’nt help it)….then maybe Dell are getting their act together. And none to soon really as the Dell Streak has proved to be meet by a lukewarm response at best.
The Dell Thunder is a slim candy bar mobile phone and looks really clean and shiny. With a 4.1″ WVGA OLED touchscreen you will be able to take full advantage of the apps that the Snapdragon processor will power to your fingertips in no time at all.
The OS looks sure to be Android 2.1 and will run with Dells Stage UI over the top to give the user first class usability. With an 8 megapixel camera and the usual array of social networks apps it will give the user plenty of oppertunity to upload and share pictures, tweets and updates.
Dell have proved they can be mass market players in laptops and you can be sure they are planning to do the same with mobile phones and the Dell Thunder may well be their first step in the right direction.
HTC New Handsets Coming Soon
Aug 11th
HTC have alreay released a couple of exceptional mobile phones this year, the HTC Desire and HTC HD Mini stand head and shoulders above many of the other mobile phones and the likes of Nokia, Sony Ericsson and even Apple are sure to have been giving jealous glances.
But with Christmas just around the corner HTC have a few more stunners lined up to make sure they are front and centre underneath the Christams tree.
The HTC Gold will be the first HTC mobile phone to run Windows Phone 7, this could be a really turning point for Microsoft as they fight back against Android, and with the OS wrapped in an HTC mobile phone then they have an excellent chance.
The HTC HD3 will be a monster, with a 4.5″ screen and an 8MP camera all powered by what many believe will be Snapdragons fastest processor yet and at 1.5 GHZ it should make light work of filming in HD quaility.
With those two newbies on offer come present buying time its clear to see that HTC intend to hit the ground running in 2011.
With Nokia bringing out the N8 and Samsung bringing out the Cetus also featuring Windows Phone 7 then the technology race is anyones to win.
Blackberry 6 The New RIM OS
Aug 11th
Blackberry have a new OS so I thought I would take a look at the Blackberry website and get the lowdown straight from the horses mouth.
First of all the Blackberry 6 mini site looks absolutely gorgeous, even as it loads up you get start to feel this is something special.
With a tag line of “Be Fully Engaged” the site flows along to give you presentation of whats on offer.
The home screen – giving you the ability to customize the home screen with your own personal touches.
BBM – Have PIN will chat…. Blackberry 6 offers you the chance to Share real life in real-time.
Media Player – All the usual suspects are here with so watching videos or listening to your favourite tracks wont be a problem.
Universal Search – The ability to search for anything stored on your phone or the web all from one place.
Social Feeds – If BBM isnt enough for you then dive straight into Facebook and Twitter and see who is doing what, when and when.
Browser – with tabbed browsing and the it allows you to have multiple tabs open at the same time.
The mini site also goes on to mention the simple set up and sleek fluid design that Blackberry 6 has to show.
If the OS is anything like the mini site then it would be fair to say RIM have got another winner on their hands.
The Blackberry Torch will carry the new OS and as sliders go it looks a cracker.
Vodafone Online – What’s Their Homepage Offers
Aug 10th
Just thought I would head over to Vodafone Shop and have a look at whats they have to offer on their homepage.
First thing I noticed is their offer of the Samsung Wave, “Feel the power of the Samsung Wave” Is the slogan and a nice sticker “Yours From £25 a month”.
Below that to the left there’s the Samsung Monte and another sticker “From £10 a Month”. The Monte sits underneath a Phones title and next to that is a title called Plans, this giving the visitor an option to click off into Pay Monthly, Sim Only, Free Sim and Business Plans.
A couple of dropdowns sit below them offering select a Phone and select a Plan, nice easy navigation and well signposted.
Next there is a banner advertising “Want to find the right smartphone for you” and a line up of the latest smartphones Vodafone have to offer.
Finally they split the page into four boxes from left to rightr offering the chance to “Meet Android” “Online Upgrades” “Mobile Broadband Deals” and last but not least “Small Business Deals”.
I’d say they just about cover all the bases there !!
Blackberry BBM Now Available On O2 Pay As You Go
Aug 10th
For the text lovers that are on O2 PAYG news that Blackberry have now lauched their BBM (Blackberry Messenger) on the Network is great news.
With one of the handsets being the brand spanking new Blackberry Pearl 3G then your able to get the very latest handset with the very latest technology, although at £249.99 it is still a big upfront price to pay. When you can get the same handset for free on contract from only £35 a month then I know what I which one I would be going for.
The other handsets available with BBM on PAYG are the Blackberry Curve 8520 (£149.00) and the trusty Blackberry Bold 9700 (£349.00).
Worth noting that O2 have given their Blackberry tariffs a revamp, with £25 a month getting you Unlimited text, 500 minutes and 500MB of data.
With the new Blackberry phones available on PAYG and the new rework of the month tariffs then O2 should see a good increase in the number of people sharing their PIN and starting to chat.
